Who turned on the faucet!?

One of the more embarrassing “symptoms” I encountered (and still deal with today) is excess saliva in my mouth. And this is one that gets put on display, front and center, when conversing with other people. Which we do. Every day.

I would be talking away with someone, and suddenly I say a word and a drop of drool escapes my mouth; sometimes just on the edge of my lip – other times it rolls down my chin – or (this is the worst) it goes airborne and there is no catching it before it lands on my lap, the table in front of me or most embarrassingly it crosses the divide and lands near the other person. Gross!

It also seems just to have a mind of its own and slides down my throat prematurely and causes me to begin choking. Ack!

I am not sure if this is a result of menopause or just aging in general, but I could certainly do without it!
